Jaratkāru’s Conditional Marriage Vow and Vāsuki’s Offer (जरत्कारु-विवाह-नियमः)

स त्वं शमपरो भूत्वा वनन्‍्यमाहारमाचरन्‌ | चर क्रोधमिमं हत्वा नैवं धर्म प्रहास्यसि,तुम मन और इन्द्रियोंके निग्रहमें तत्यर होकर जंगली कन्द, मूल, फलका आहार करते हुए इस क्रोधको मिटाकर उत्तम आचरण करो; ऐसा करनेसे तुम्हारे धर्मकी हानि नहीं होगी

sa tvaṁ śamaparo bhūtvā vanyam āhāram ācaran | cara krodham imaṁ hatvā naivaṁ dharmaṁ prahāsyasi ||

Śamīka sprach: „Werde der inneren Ruhe (śama) und der Selbstzucht ergeben. Lebe von Waldspeise — Wurzeln, Knollen und Früchten — und übe eine disziplinierte Lebensweise; vernichte diesen Zorn und handle edel. So wird dein Dharma nicht geschmälert werden.“
