Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical power of restraint (mauna) and how a ruler’s mind, when burdened by grief, can be further tested when immediate counsel is unavailable—prompting patience, accountability, and self-control.

The king learns that the eminent sage in the forest is observing a vow of silence. This blocks instant communication and intensifies the king’s sorrow and agitation, deepening the emotional tension of the episode.
