Ādi-parva Adhyāya 33: Vāsuki’s Council on Averting the Sarpa-satra
विष्णुना च तदाकाशे वैनतेय: समेयिवान् । तस्य नारायणस्तुष्टस्तेनालौल्येन कर्मणा,उस समय आकाशमें विनतानन्दन गरुड़की भगवान् विष्णुसे भेंट हो गयी। भगवान् नारायण गरुडके लोलुपतारहित पराक्रमसे बहुत संतुष्ट हुए थे
viṣṇunā ca tadākāśe vainateyaḥ sameyivān | tasya nārāyaṇas tuṣṭas tenāloulyena karmaṇā ||
In eben jenem Himmel begegnete Vainateya (Garuḍa) Viṣṇu. Nārāyaṇa war überaus zufrieden mit ihm, denn seine Tat war von furchtloser Kraft ohne Gier geprägt — ein Hinweis darauf, dass wahre Stärke erst dann moralisches Gewicht erhält, wenn sie nicht von selbstsüchtigem Verlangen getrieben ist.
