वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the vulnerability of a household in crisis: a downcast face signals fear and moral pressure, inviting a dharmic response—attention, compassion, and responsible action toward those in distress.
The narrator reports that someone arrives and sees a brāhmaṇa sitting there with his wife, son, and daughter, all together, with the brāhmaṇa’s face lowered—indicating anxiety or sorrow at that moment in the story.
