Post–Baka-vadha Residence and the Introduction of Yājñasenī’s Svayaṃvara
Steh still!“
The verse underscores steadfast courage and the duty to face unjust aggression directly. Bhīma’s command to “stand” expresses refusal to be driven by fear and a readiness to protect others by confronting the threat.
As an attacker charges in (in this episode, Hiḍimba), Bhīma observes the rush, rebukes him, and challenges him to stand and fight—marking the escalation into open combat.
