Atharva Veda 18.2.29 — Kanda 18, Anuvaka 1, Sukta 2, Mantra 29

Sukta 2

सं वि॑शन्त्वि॒ह पि॒तरः॒ स्वा नः॑ स्यो॒नं कृ॒ण्वन्तः॑ प्रति॒रन्त॒ आयुः॑ । तेभ्यः॑ शकेम ह॒विषा॒ नक्ष॑माणा॒ ज्योग् जीव॑न्तः श॒रदः॑ पुरू॒चीः

sáṃ víśantv ihá pitáraḥ svā́ naḥ syonáṃ kṛṇvántaḥ pratiránta ā́yuḥ | tébhyaḥ śakema havíṣā nákṣamāṇā jyóg jī́vantaḥ śarádaḥ purūcī́ḥ ||

Let the Fathers, our own, enter together here; making for us a kindly resting-place, repelling away our life’s undoing. To them may we have power to reach with oblation, attaining their grace—living long, through many an autumn.

Mögen hier gemeinsam die Väter, die unsrigen, eintreten; indem sie uns eine gütige, heilsame Ruhestätte bereiten und das Verderben unseres Lebens abwehren. Mögen wir sie mit der Opfergabe (havis) erreichen können, ihre Gunst erlangend—lange lebend, durch viele Herbste hindurch.
