iti japaḥ | svarṇapatrāṇi niyutaṃ yojanānāṃ sahasrakam | puṣkaraṃ jvaladā bhāti taccihnaṃ dvīpapuṣkaram
Sūta (Lomaharṣaṇa) to the sages
Tirtha: Puṣkara-dvīpa
Type: kshetra
Scene: A colossal lotus with golden petals, rimmed with flame-like brilliance, floating above or forming the very sign of an island; the lotus spans the horizon, with tiny celestial beings circling it like sparks.
The cosmos is portrayed as radiant and symbol-filled; sacred emblems (like the blazing lotus) signify divine order and auspiciousness.
Puṣkara-dvīpa is mentioned as a cosmological region; it is distinct from the terrestrial Puṣkara-tīrtha of Rajasthan.
"Iti japaḥ" indicates a recitation segment; the verse then describes the region’s defining emblem.
