mārkaṇḍeya uvāca | śṛṇu pārtha mahāpraśnaṃ kathayāmi yathāśrutam | sakāśādbrahmaṇaḥ pūrvamṛṣidevasamāgame

মার্কণ্ডেয় বললেন—হে পার্থ, এই মহাপ্রশ্ন শোনো। যেমন আমি শুনেছি তেমনই বলছি—পূর্বে ঋষি ও দেবসমাবেশে স্বয়ং ব্রহ্মার নিকট থেকে।
