अग्निर्ह त्यं जरतः कर्णमावाग्निरद्भ्यो निरदहज्जरूथम् । अग्निरत्रिं घर्म उरुष्यदन्तरग्निर्नृमेधं प्रजयासृजत्सम् ॥

agnír ha tyáṁ jarátaḥ kárṇam āvágnír adbhyó nír adahaj jarū́tham | agnír átriṁ gharmé uruṣyad ántar agnír nṛ-médhaṁ pra-jáyā asṛjat sám ||

অগ্নি সত্যই সেই জরত (বৃদ্ধ) জনের কর্ণ (শ্রবণ) রক্ষা করেছিলেন; অগ্নি জলসমূহ থেকে জরূথ (Jarūtha)কে দগ্ধ করে বের করে দিয়েছিলেন। অগ্নি ঘর্ম (তাপ/তপ)এর মধ্যে অত্রিকে রক্ষা করেছিলেন; অগ্নি নৃমেধকে প্রজয়া সহ প্রকাশ করেছিলেন।
