Trishanku’s Bodily Ascent and the New Constellations
viśvāmitras tu dharmātmā sarvadevair abhiṣṭutaḥ || ṛṣibhiś ca mahātejā bāḍham ity āha devatāḥ |
In this manner extolled by all devatas and rishis, mighty and righteous Viswamitra said, 'well let it be so'.
Dharma here is shown as harmony between spiritual authority and divine order: even immense power is exercised with clarity, restraint, and formal assent (“So be it”).
After being praised by gods and sages at the conclusion of the extraordinary rite connected with Triśaṅku, Viśvāmitra gives his assent to the assembled deities.
Righteous leadership: Viśvāmitra’s authority is validated by praise, and he responds with composed decisiveness.
