Dharmāṅgada’s Discourse (Dharmāṅgadopadeśa) in the Mohinī Episode

It grounds dharma in gratitude and right conduct: the mother’s sacrifice in bearing, suffering, and raising the child is highlighted as spiritually weighty, implying that honoring and serving one’s mother is a direct expression of dharma.
By training the heart in reverence, humility, and service—beginning with the mother who sustains life—this verse supports bhakti’s core discipline of seva (loving service), which later extends to devotion toward Vishnu and the saints.
No specific Vedanga (like Vyakarana, Jyotisha, or Kalpa) is taught directly; the practical takeaway is dharmic ethics for household life—recognizing roles, obligations, and the primacy of care (pālana) and nurturing (vardhana).
