सिद्धेद्वर्णागमाद्धंसः सिंहो वर्णविपर्ययात् । गूढोत्मा वर्णविकृतेर्वर्णनांशात्पृषोदरः ॥ ४ ॥

বর্ণের সংযোজন থেকে ‘হংস’ শব্দ সিদ্ধ হয়, বর্ণের উলট-পালট থেকে ‘সিংহ’; বর্ণবিকৃতি থেকে ‘গূঢ়াত্মা’, আর বর্ণলোপের অংশ থেকে ‘পৃষোদর’—এভাবে শব্দসমূহ ব্যাকরণীয় ক্রিয়ায় ব্যাখ্যাত।
