FAQs

It gives a prescribed set of naivedya (food offerings) suitable for worship—specific vegetables, sweets, and prepared foods to be formally offered (arpayet) to the deity.

By cataloging concrete ritual details—down to named dishes and sweets—it functions like a practical liturgical manual, showing the Agni Purana’s coverage of everyday temple and household worship procedure alongside philosophy and mythology.

Offering properly prepared naivedya with devotion is treated as a meritorious act (puṇya) that purifies the worshipper and completes the worship by converting ordinary food into sanctified offering (prasāda).
