FAQs

It reflects a common Purāṇic narrative structure in which ritual knowledge is transmitted by a learned authority (dvija) to a ruler, indicating the social circulation of dharma-oriented practice and the codification of procedures (vidhāna) in sacred-geography contexts.

No explicit location is named within this single verse; however, the surrounding chapter context is typically associated with the Prayāga Māhātmya section in many recensions, a discourse centered on sacred geography and observances.

The verse emphasizes disciplined adherence to a prescribed method (vidhāna) and responsible implementation of received instruction—an ethic of careful learning, comprehension, and practice rather than improvisation.
