īśvara uvāca | dakṣaśāpena te caṃdra yakṣmā kāye vyavasthitaḥ | na śakto hyanyathā kartuṃ śāpastasya mahātmanaḥ
Śiva (Īśvara)
Tirtha: Arbuda-kṣetra (contextual)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Candra (Soma)
Scene: Śiva explains calmly that yakṣmā resides in Candra due to Dakṣa’s curse, and that the curse cannot be simply overturned; the tone is judicial and compassionate.
Cosmic order honors the moral force of a righteous person’s utterance; divine grace often works by mitigation rather than negation.
The teaching occurs within Arbuda-māhātmya, connecting the site with instruction on dharma and divine compassion.
None directly; the verse explains why a complete reversal is not possible, preparing for a balanced boon.
