Night on the Bank of the Tamasa and the Stratagem to Elude the Citizens
atha rāmo 'bravīc chrīmān sumantraṁ yujyatāṁ rathaḥ |
gamiṣyāmi tato 'raṇyaṁ gaccha śīghram itaḥ prabho ||2.46.25||
Then glorious Rama addressing Sumantra said O master charioteer, harness the chariot. I shall (let us) quickly leave for the forest.
Steadfastness to duty and truth (satya): Rama proceeds with exile without hesitation, treating the commitment as binding and to be executed promptly.
Rama instructs Sumantra to harness the chariot so they can leave Ayodhya toward the forest.
Resolve and integrity—Rama’s calm, decisive movement toward a difficult but righteous path.
