Adhyaya 41 — Yogic Conduct and the Discipline Leading to Siddhi
इदं ज्ञेयमिदं ज्ञेयमिति यस्तृषितश्चरेत् ।
अपि कल्पसहस्रेषु नैव ज्ञेयमवाप्नुयात् ॥
idaṃ jñeyam idaṃ jñeyam iti yas tṛṣitaś caret | api kalpasahasreṣu naiva jñeyam avāpnuyāt ||
مَن تدفعه العطشة فيتيه وهو يقول في نفسه: «هذا يجب أن يُعرَف، هذا يجب أن يُعرَف»—فإنه حتى في آلاف الكَلْبَات (kalpa) لا ينال ما هو حقًّا جدير بالمعرفة (الغاية).

Curiosity becomes bondage when it is compulsive. Liberation-oriented learning requires direction and discernment, not endless accumulation.

The ‘thirst for knowing’ is a subtle form of desire (kāma). Until desire itself is quieted, the ‘jñeya’ (ultimate reality) remains veiled, regardless of time-span.
