Adhyaya 29 — Alarka’s Inquiry and Madalasa’s Teaching on Householder Dharma (Gārhasthya), Vaiśvadeva, and Atithi Hospitality
पूजयीत यथाशक्ति शयनासनभोजनैः । एवमुद्धवहतस्तात गार्हस्थ्यं भारमाहितम् ॥
pūjayīta yathāśakti śayanāsanabhojanaiḥ | evam uddavahatas tāta gārhasthyaṃ bhāram āhitam ||
وعليه أن يكرم الضيف على قدر طاقته بسريرٍ ومقعدٍ وطعام. وهكذا يا بُنيَّ العزيز، فإن حال ربّ البيت لمن يحملها على وجهها الصحيح هي مسؤولية قد أُلقيت على عاتقه.

Dharma is calibrated to capacity (yathāśakti) yet remains obligatory. Household life is praised when its ‘burden’—care for others—is consciously carried.

Seat, bed, and food correspond to stability, rest, and sustenance—symbolic of offering others psychological safety, respite, and life-support, which purifies the giver.
