yadā tv asaṅgṛhītatvāt prayānty aśvā yathāsukham | tato duḥśāsanaḥ sūtaṃ bubudhe gatacetasam ||
قال سنجيا: لما لم يكن أحدٌ ممسكًا باللِّجام، أخذت الخيل تعدو حيث شاءت، فعلم دُحشاسَنَةُ أن سائس مركبته (السُّوتا) قد فقد وعيه—كأنه قُتل أو عُطِّل عن أداء مهمته—فبقيت العربة بلا زمام ولا ضبط.
संजय उवाच

Duḥśāsana notices the horses scattering freely because no one is controlling them, and from this he understands that his charioteer has become unconscious or has been struck down, leaving the chariot effectively leaderless.
