Shloka 13

द्वाभ्यां जातो हि मातृभ्यामर्धदेह: पृथक्‌ पृथक्‌ जरया संधितो यस्माज्जरासंधस्ततो5भवत्‌,उसका आधा-आधा शरीर अलग-अलग दो माताओंके पेटसे पैदा हुआ था। जराने उसे जोड़ा था; इसीलिये उसका नाम जरासंध हुआ

dvābhyāṁ jāto hi mātṛbhyām ardha-dehaḥ pṛthak pṛthak | jarayā sandhito yasmāj jarāsandhas tato 'bhavat ||

لقد وُلِد من أمّين، وجسده منقسمٌ إلى نصفين منفصلين. ولأن عجوزًا تُدعى «جارا» قد وصلت هذين النصفين، سُمّي «جاراسندها».
