Yayāti–Indra Dialogue and Aṣṭaka’s Inquiry

शुक्र उवाच नन्वहं प्रत्यवेक्ष्यस्ते मदधीनो 5सि पार्थिव । मिथ्याचारस्य धर्मेषु चौर्य भवति नाहुष,शुक्राचार्यने कहा--राजन्‌! तुम्हें इस विषयमें मेरे आदेशकी भी प्रतीक्षा करनी चाहिये थी; क्‍योंकि तुम मेरे अधीन हो। नहुषनन्दन! धर्ममें मिथ्या आचरण करनेवाले पुरुषको चोरीका पाप लगता है

śukra uvāca | nanv ahaṃ pratyavekṣyas te mad-adhīno 'si pārthiva | mithyācārasya dharmeṣu cauryaṃ bhavati nāhuṣa-nandana ||

قال شُكرا: «كان ينبغي لك أن تنتظر توجيهي في هذا الأمر، أيها الملك، لأنك تحت سلطاني. يا من أنت من نسل نَهُوشا، إن من يتزيّا بلباس الدهرما ثم يسلك سلوكًا كاذبًا، فإن فعله في أبواب الدهرما يُلحق به إثمَ السرقة.»
