Concept: Protection is ritually ‘bound’ (bandhana) through mantra-invocation and symbolic sealing acts; guardian principle (Viśvaksena) is internalized in the invoked form.

Application: During arcana, add rakṣā-sūtra bandhana to formalize protection for the deity/altar and by extension the worshipper’s rite.

FAQs

It teaches a specific pūjā step: worship Īśānaka with designated epithets and then bind a rakṣā-sūtra (protective thread) on the deity’s right hand as part of the rite.

Beyond theology, it preserves practical liturgical protocol—exact invocatory naming and a concrete temple/altar action (rakṣā-sūtra bandhana)—showing the text’s role as a manual of ritual technology alongside its wider subjects.

The rakṣā-sūtra functions as a consecrated safeguard, ritually establishing protection (rakṣā) and auspiciousness for the worship and its fruits, while affirming the deity’s protective agency through formal invocation.
