इत्य् आदिमहापुराणे आग्नेये मण्डलादिवर्णनं नाम त्रिंशो ऽध्यायः अथ एकत्रिंशो ऽध्यायः मार्जनविधानं अग्निर् उवाच रक्षां स्वस्य परेषाञ्च वक्ष्ये तां मार्जनाह्वयां यया विमुच्यते दुःखैः सुखञ्च प्राप्नुयान्नरः
ity ādimahāpurāṇe āgneye maṇḍalādivarṇanaṃ nāma triṃśo 'dhyāyaḥ atha ekatriṃśo 'dhyāyaḥ mārjanavidhānaṃ agnir uvāca rakṣāṃ svasya pareṣāñca vakṣye tāṃ mārjanāhvayāṃ yayā vimucyate duḥkhaiḥ sukhañca prāpnuyānnaraḥ
وهكذا، في «أغني بورانا»—المها بورانا الأولى—تنتهي الفقرة الثلاثون المعنونة «وصف الماندالا وما يتصل بها». والآن يبدأ الفصل الحادي والثلاثون: «أحكام المارجَنا (الرشّ التطهيري)». قال أغني: «سأبيّن تلك الحماية للنفس وللآخرين، المسماة “مارجَنا”، التي بها يتحرر الإنسان من الأحزان وينال السعادة»۔
