Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Philosophy","secondary_vidya":"Yoga","practical_application":"Guided contemplation on the subtle-body (liṅga-śarīra) and its sense-faculty structure to support detachment, meditative absorption, and understanding of transmigration.","sutra_style":true}

Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"Procedure","entry_title":"Liṅga-śarīra saṅkramaṇa and indriya-vibhāga contemplation","lookup_keywords":["liṅga-śarīra","saṅkramaṇa","indriya-vibhāga","saṃskāra","krama-vṛddhi"],"quick_summary":"Meditatively ‘transfer’ the refined subtle body into Self-abidance and contemplate, stepwise, how the subtle body is structured by differentiated sense-faculties and develops through stages."}

Concept: Liṅga-śarīra (subtle body) as saṃskāra-bearing vehicle; contemplation of indriya-structure and progressive manifestation to stabilize ātma-niṣṭhā and loosen saṃsāra-identification.

Application: Use sequential visualization (krama-vicāra) of indriyas and subtle-body growth as a meditative ladder: from sensory differentiation to witnessing awareness.

Khanda Section: Yoga / Sāṅkhya (Subtle-body doctrine; transmigration and contemplation practice)

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

Sandhi Resolution Notes: paścādātmastham → paścāt + ātma-stham; vibhaktendriyasaṃsthānam → vibhakta + indriya + saṃsthānam

FAQs

It teaches a yogic-analytical practice: to internalize (establish in the Self) the liṅga-śarīra refined by discipline and to contemplate the ordered structure and functioning of the differentiated sense-faculties (indriyas) within the subtle body.

Alongside ritual and worldly sciences, the Agni Purāṇa also preserves Sāṅkhya-Yoga style psychology—mapping the subtle body, sense-faculties, and contemplative method—showing its broad coverage from metaphysics to practical meditation.

By re-centering the transmigratory subtle body in the ātman and discerning the indriyas sequentially, one cultivates detachment and clarity, weakening identification with sensory operations and supporting liberation-oriented insight.
