On the request of the demigods, Rajī killed the demons and thus returned the kingdom of heaven to Lord Indra. But Indra, fearing such demons as Prahlāda, returned the kingdom of heaven to Rajī and surrendered himself at Rajī’s lotus feet.
This verse says that, when requested by the devas, King Raji defeated the Daityas and handed the celestial kingdom back to Indra.
Indra feared retaliation from powerful enemies like Prahlāda and therefore returned sovereignty to Raji and took shelter at Raji’s feet.
The verse highlights that even the powerful may seek protection; recognizing limits, acting responsibly, and taking shelter in rightful authority are practical expressions of humility.
