Daśa-lakṣaṇam: The Ten Topics, Virāṭ-Puruṣa Sense-Manifestation, and the Supreme Shelter (Āśraya)
अन्त:शरीर आकाशात् पुरुषस्य विचेष्टत: । ओज: सहो बलं जज्ञे तत: प्राणो महानसु: ॥ १५ ॥
antaḥ śarīra ākāśāt puruṣasya viceṣṭataḥ ojaḥ saho balaṁ jajñe tataḥ prāṇo mahān asuḥ
From the sky situated within the transcendental body of the manifesting Mahā-Viṣṇu, sense energy, mental force and bodily strength are all generated, as well as the sum total of the fountainhead of the total living force.
This verse states that prāṇa, the great life-force, arises in the sequence of creation from vitality (ojas), endurance (saha), and strength (bala), which manifest from the inner ether and the activity of the Supreme Person.
Śukadeva explains creation as dependent on the Puruṣa: the functions and powers within beings—energy, endurance, and strength—are not independent; they arise because the Lord activates and organizes the elements and their capacities.
Recognize life, strength, and breath as gifts sustained by a higher order; cultivate gratitude, disciplined living, and devotion, using one’s vitality in service rather than in ego-driven exhaustion.
