Yudhiṣṭhira’s Rājasūya Resolve and the Slaying of Jarāsandha
तत: समेखले वीरौ संयुक्तावितरेतरम् । जघ्नतुर्वज्रकल्पाभ्यां गदाभ्यां रणदुर्मदौ ॥ ३४ ॥
tataḥ samekhale vīrau saṁyuktāv itaretaram jaghnatur vajra-kalpābhyāṁ gadābhyāṁ raṇa-durmadau
The two heroes thus began battling each other on the level fighting grounds outside the city. Maddened with the fury of combat, they struck each other with their lightning-bolt-like clubs.
Bhīma and Jarāsandha engage directly in the arena and strike one another with thunderbolt-like clubs, showing the intense climax of their duel.
Kṛṣṇa arranged the duel to remove Jarāsandha—an oppressive king—and to free the imprisoned rulers, establishing dharma while advancing His divine mission.
Even amid intense struggle, one should act with courage and steadiness for a righteous purpose—placing trust in divine guidance rather than ego or rage.
