taṁ dṛṣṭvā sahasotthāya dehaḥ prāṇam ivāgatam prītaḥ priyatamaṁ dorbhyāṁ sasvaje prema-vihvalaḥ
When Nanda Mahārāja heard that Vasudeva had come, he was overwhelmed with love and affection, being as pleased as if his body had regained its life. Seeing Vasudeva suddenly present, he got up and embraced him with both arms.
Nanda Mahārāja was older than Vasudeva. Therefore Nanda Mahārāja embraced him, and Vasudeva offered him namaskāra.
It describes Nanda Mahārāja’s joyful reaction on seeing Vasudeva—he rises immediately and embraces him, overwhelmed with affectionate love.
Because Vasudeva was his dearest friend and well-wisher; their reunion in Gokula naturally overflowed into an affectionate embrace.
True relationships grounded in dharma and devotion are expressed through sincere warmth, gratitude, and heartfelt connection—not merely formalities.
