O King, as the citizens of the city and the people from outlying districts gazed upon those two Supreme Personalities from their seats in the galleries, the force of the people’s happiness caused their eyes to open wide and their faces to blossom. They drank in the vision of the Lords’ faces without becoming satiated.
This verse says the people “drank” Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma’s faces with their eyes yet remained unsatisfied—because the Lord’s beauty and sweetness are unlimited, and loving devotion naturally longs for ever-fresh darśana.
Śukadeva describes the citizens and villagers in Mathurā, seated in the arena stands, beholding Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma as They appear for the wrestling festival connected to Kaṁsa.
Cultivate “darśana-bhāva” daily—seek the Lord’s presence through attentive deity worship, hearing and chanting, and mindful viewing of sacred forms—so the heart learns to relish devotion rather than temporary sights.
