Aditi’s Lament and Kaśyapa’s Instruction of the Payo-vrata (Milk Vow) to Please Keśava
त्वं देव्यादिवराहेण रसाया: स्थानमिच्छता । उद्धृतासि नमस्तुभ्यं पाप्मानं मे प्रणाशय ॥ २७ ॥
tvaṁ devy ādi-varāheṇa rasāyāḥ sthānam icchatā uddhṛtāsi namas tubhyaṁ pāpmānaṁ me praṇāśaya
O mother earth, you were raised by the Supreme Personality of Godhead in the form of a boar because of your desiring to have a place to stay. I pray that you kindly vanquish all the reactions of my sinful life. I offer my respectful obeisances unto you.
This verse recalls that Bhū-devī was rescued and raised from the depths (Rasā) by the Lord’s Ādi-Varāha incarnation, emphasizing the Lord’s protective role toward the world.
As part of her vow and prayers to obtain the Lord’s favor, Aditi honors sacred powers connected to the Lord’s pastimes—remembering Varāha’s rescue of Earth—and asks for purification from sin.
Remember the Lord’s saving acts, offer respectful prayers, and sincerely seek inner cleansing—using devotion and humility as a means to overcome guilt, harmful habits, and moral lapses.
