Īśvara (Śiva)
Tirtha: Yameśvara (Prabhāsa)
Type: temple
Listener: Pārvatī
Scene: Śiva, radiant and tranquil, grants a cascade of boons to the tapasvin Yama before the Prabhāsa liṅga; the shrine is labeled ‘Yameśvara’. Pilgrims arrive on Yamadvitīyā with lamps and offerings, symbolically turning away from Yamaloka’s gates.
Śiva’s grace at a tīrtha transforms destiny: sincere worship culminates in boons and in protection from fear of death and Yama’s jurisdiction.
Yameśvara in Prabhāsakṣetra, a named sacred spot whose renown is tied to Yama’s devotion and Śiva’s boon.
Darśana of Yameśvara specifically on Yamadvitīyā, stated to confer the fruit of not seeing (i.e., not going to) Yamaloka.
