无论以虔敬而行,或不以虔敬而行;无论清净或不净——只要修持毗湿奴(Viṣṇu)之守夜,便能解脱无量(亿万)罪业。
Skanda (deduced from Dvārakā Māhātmya narrative style within Skanda Purāṇa)
Tirtha: Viṣṇu/Kṛṣṇa-jāgara (Dvārakā)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Nṛpa (king)
Scene: A diverse group of pilgrims—some weary, some humble, some unkempt—remain awake through the night before Viṣṇu/Kṛṣṇa; a radiant aura washes over them, and dark ‘sin’ forms dissolve into light.
Viṣṇu’s jāgaraṇa is presented as exceptionally purifying, capable of destroying vast sin even when the practitioner is imperfect.
The Dvārakā setting of the Dvārakā Māhātmya, where Viṣṇu/Kṛṣṇa worship is central.
Performing a night-vigil (jāgaraṇa) dedicated to Viṣṇu.
