atra viṣṇupadī gaṃgā tatkṣetre tu dvijottamāḥ | tasyāṃ snānaṃ karotveṣa tataḥ śuddhimavāpsyati
然而在此圣域之中,具名“毗湿奴足生”(Viṣṇupadī)的恒河现前,噢诸婆罗门之最胜者。若于其水中沐浴,便能获得清净。
Śāṇḍilya (quoted within Sūta’s narration)
Tirtha: Viṣṇupadī Gaṅgā
Type: ghat
Listener: dvijottamāḥ (addressed: ‘O best of the twice-born’)
Scene: A serene riverbank within a sacred kṣetra; the Viṣṇupadī Gaṅgā glows with sanctity as a pilgrim is urged to bathe for immediate purification.
When a supreme tīrtha is accessible, direct sacred bathing can grant purification more readily than severe penances.
Viṣṇupadī Gaṅgā within this kṣetra is explicitly glorified as the purifier.
Snāna (ritual bathing) in Viṣṇupadī Gaṅgā is prescribed to attain śuddhi (purification).
