Narrative voice (Maheshvara Khanda context: Sūta/Lomaharṣaṇa relating events)
Type: tirtha
Scene: A weary wanderer burdened with bags and anxious eyes points at signposts ‘tīrtha’; beside him, a calm ascetic sits steadily at one shrine; the wanderer’s path looks thorny, the ascetic’s path luminous.
Pilgrimage bears fruit when guided by discipline and devotion, not by restless craving and constant comparison.
The verse speaks generally about tīrtha-seeking behavior; it does not name a particular site.
An implied prescription: avoid aimless tīrtha-wandering; cultivate steadiness and right intention to attain siddhi.
