Nandīkeśvara
Listener: Vyāsa
Scene: Nandīkeśvara addresses Vyāsa, declaring the hymn supremely meritorious and promising Śaṅkara’s pleasure for the wise reciter.
Devotional recitation (pāṭha) of a Śiva-stotra generates great puṇya and directly pleases Śiva.
Kāśī (Vārāṇasī) is the setting of the Kāśī Khaṇḍa narrative, within which Vyāseśvara is praised.
Recitation of the stava (hymn) is prescribed as a meritorious practice for the wise devotee.
