śrīruvāca | uttiṣṭhottiṣṭha bhadraṃ te mitrāvaruṇasaṃbhava | pativrate tvamuttiṣṭha lopāmudre śubhavrate
Śrī (Lakṣmī)
Tirtha: Kāśīkṣetra
Type: kshetra
Listener: Agastya (Mitra-Varuṇa-sambhava) and Lopāmudrā
Scene: Mahālakṣmī (Śrī) addresses the prostrating couple with a raised hand of blessing; the sage is identified by the epithet ‘Mitra-Varuṇa-sambhava’ (Agastya), and Lopāmudrā stands as an ideal pativratā, both bathed in divine light.
Divine grace responds to sincere devotion, and pativratā-dharma (steadfast marital virtue) is honored as spiritually powerful.
The dialogue occurs within the Kāśīkhaṇḍa setting of Kāśī, whose sacred atmosphere frames the Goddess’s direct blessing.
No formal rite is prescribed; the verse records the Goddess’s boon-giving response after prostration and praise.
