ब्रह्मोवाच । गणावसौ द्विजो धीमान्वेदवेदांगपारगः । स्मृत्युक्ताचारचंचुश्च प्रतीपः पापकर्मसु
brahmovāca | gaṇāvasau dvijo dhīmānvedavedāṃgapāragaḥ | smṛtyuktācāracaṃcuśca pratīpaḥ pāpakarmasu
梵天(Brahmā)说道:“此婆罗门睿智通达,精于吠陀及其支分(Vedāṅga);勤行《忆传》(Smṛti)所教之戒行,并坚决反对罪业。”
Brahmā
Tirtha: Kāśī-kṣetra (implied qualifying context)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Śiva-gaṇas (and the brāhmaṇa as present hearer)
Scene: Brahmā speaks in assembly, praising the brāhmaṇa’s wisdom, Vedic accomplishment, smṛti-based conduct, and steadfast opposition to sin; gaṇas stand respectfully nearby.
Purāṇic dharma esteems learning joined with ethical discipline—Vedic knowledge must express itself as Smṛti-based right conduct and avoidance of sin.
Indirectly Kāśī, since this adhyāya sits in the Kāśī-khaṇḍa where dharmic living and sacred death/merit are framed by Kāśī’s greatness.
No single rite is prescribed; the prescription is general: follow Smṛti-enjoined ācāra and avoid pāpa-karman.
