sadbhiśca saṃgatirnityaṃ maitrī ca pitṛmitrakaiḥ | itihāsapurāṇānāmutkaṃṭhā śravaṇe sadā
常与善人相交;亦与父亲之友结为友善;并恒怀渴慕,乐听《伊提哈萨》(史诗传说)与《普拉那》(Purāṇa)——此皆被称颂为护持法(dharma)之依止。
Skanda
Tirtha: Kāśī-kṣetra (śravaṇa-satsang within the kṣetra)
Type: kshetra
Scene: On a Kāśī ghāṭa or in a small maṭha, a learned paurāṇika recites while listeners sit attentively; elders and youths together; a father’s old friends greet the householder warmly, symbolizing continuity of dharma.
Satsanga and devoted listening to sacred narratives purify the mind and strengthen dharma.
The verse is part of Kāśī-khaṇḍa teachings; no particular tirtha is singled out.
Śravaṇa (devotional listening) of Itihāsa and Purāṇa is recommended as an ongoing practice.
