‘但若因我们福薄,他并未行此供养,那么仅凭他触及那圣地(tīrtha),我们的满足亦将成就。’
Skanda (deduced; reporting the ancestors’ words within the narrative)
Tirtha: Candroda-tīrtha
Type: kund
Scene: Ancestral figures speak with a tender, resigned tone about their ‘ill fortune’; a pilgrim, perhaps unable to perform full rites, simply touches the pond’s water, and a wave of light reaches the pitṛs.
A supremely sanctified tīrtha can confer benefit by contact alone, revealing the compassionate potency of sacred geography.
Candroda-tīrtha in Kāśī (the tīrtha being discussed).
Even if tarpaṇa is not performed, touching/visiting the tīrtha is said to bring ancestral satisfaction—though the ideal remains to do the rites.
