圣者马尔坎德耶说道:世间未曾有、亦将永不有胜过阇勒湿伐罗(Jāleśvara)的圣地(tīrtha)。般度之子啊,且听我讲述其起源。
Śrī Mārkaṇḍeya
Tirtha: Jāleśvara
Type: kshetra
Listener: Pāṇḍunandana (Pāṇḍava prince)
Scene: Sage Mārkaṇḍeya, radiant and composed, addresses a Pāṇḍava prince in an āśrama setting, proclaiming Jāleśvara as the supreme tīrtha and inviting attentive listening to its origin.
The Purāṇas exalt certain sites as uniquely potent, and they ground that claim in an origin narrative meant to inspire faith and practice.
Jāleśvara is declared incomparable among tīrthas.
None in this verse; it introduces the forthcoming account of the tīrtha’s origin.
