Suta Goswami (narrating Shiva’s yogic and ritual disciplines as taught in the Vāyavīyasaṃhitā)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
It teaches that outer purity and steadiness—symbolized by a clean, even, comfortable seat—support inner steadiness, making the mind fit for Shaiva dhyāna and liberation-oriented practice under Pati (Shiva).
A stable, pure seat is part of proper upāsanā: it helps the devotee sit steadily for japa, dhyāna, and mental worship of Saguna Shiva (including Linga contemplation), so attention remains fixed on Shiva rather than bodily discomfort.
Prepare a clean, level, comfortable āsana and practice seated postures like Padmāsana/Padmaka and Svastikāsana to support mantra-japa (such as the Panchākṣarī) and meditation.
