Pañcāvaraṇa-mārga Stotra to Yogeśvara Śiva
śāstraṃ ca śivadharmākhyaṃ dharmākhyaṃ ca taduttaram | śaivākhyaṃ śivadharmākhyaṃ purāṇaṃ śrutisaṃmitam
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Īśāna
It establishes Śaiva revelation as dharma-teaching that is consistent with Śruti, affirming that devotion to Pati (Śiva) and the path of liberation taught here is not outside Vedic truth but in continuity with it.
By calling the text ‘Śaiva’ and ‘Śivadharma’ while declaring it śruti-saṃmita, it validates Saguna worship—such as Linga-pūjā—as a legitimate Veda-consistent means to approach Śiva and progress toward mokṣa.
The verse primarily authorizes Śaiva dharma; in practice this points to Veda-aligned Śiva-upāsanā—regular Linga worship and japa of the Panchākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) as foundational disciplines.
