A brief dhyāna (visualization) of the newborn together with auspicious items, followed by proper performance of the jātakarma saṃskāra; a Shaiva household may accompany this with remembrance of Shiva and recitation of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) as a sanctifying support.
