Suta Goswami (narrating the Vāyavīyasaṃhitā account to the sages)
Tattva Level: pati
It highlights śama (inner restraint) arising through right counsel and reverence—showing that even powerful beings become pacified when dharma and due honor are upheld, aligning the mind toward Shiva-centered order.
Gaṇeśa, as Shiva’s foremost attendant and remover of obstacles, supports Saguna Shiva worship by restoring harmony; calmness and respect become prerequisites for approaching Shiva’s symbols such as the Liṅga with purity and steadiness.
Practice śama through japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” before worship, and begin rituals with Gaṇeśa-vandana to remove agitation and obstacles so the mind becomes fit for Liṅga-pūjā.
