Bāṇa’s Renewed Engagement in Battle
rudra uvāca | bhagavandevakīputra yadājñaptaṃ mayā purā | tatkṛtaṃ ca tvayā vipra madājñākāriṇā sadā
Rudra (Lord Shiva)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Rudra
Role: teaching
The verse highlights dharmic alignment with the Lord’s will: devotion is shown not merely by praise, but by faithful execution of the divine command, reflecting surrender to Pati (Shiva) as the supreme guide.
In Saguna worship, Shiva is approached as the personal Lord (Rudra) who directs and protects devotees; this verse models the ideal devotee—one who honors Shiva’s ājñā—an attitude central to Linga-bhakti and disciplined service.
The implied practice is ājñā-anusāra (living by the Lord’s instruction): daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with a vow of dharmic conduct, offering actions as service to Shiva.
