बाणासुरस्य शङ्करस्तुतिः तथा युद्धयाचनम् | Bāṇāsura’s Praise of Śiva and Petition for Battle
रुद्र उवाच । धिग्धिक्त्वां सर्वतो गर्विन्सर्वदैत्यकुलाधम । बलिपुत्रस्य भक्तस्य नोचितं वच ईदृशम्
rudra uvāca | dhigdhiktvāṃ sarvato garvinsarvadaityakulādhama | baliputrasya bhaktasya nocitaṃ vaca īdṛśam
鲁陀罗说道：“呸，羞哉于你——四面自负、诸代底耶族中最卑下者！你既为巴利之子、又自称奉者，如此言辞实不相称。”

The verse condemns pride (garva) as a binding impurity that contradicts true bhakti. From a Shaiva Siddhanta lens, devotion must express itself as humility, disciplined speech, and dharmic conduct—otherwise the devotee remains bound by pāśa (bondage) despite religious identity.
Saguna Shiva (Rudra) here acts as the living moral authority who corrects the devotee’s behavior. Linga-worship is not merely ritual; it requires inner purification—especially overcoming ego and harsh speech—so the worshipper becomes fit for Shiva’s grace (anugraha).
