याचमानमनोवृत्तिप्रीणने यस्य नो जनिः । तेन भूर्भारवत्येषा समुद्रागद्रुमैर्न हि
yācamānamanovṛttiprīṇane yasya no janiḥ | tena bhūrbhāravatyeṣā samudrāgadrumairna hi
若有人心中不生取悦那贪求如乞的心念之冲动——唯因此人,大地才真正负重;并非因其海洋、群山与林木。

Sthala Purana: Not tied to a specific liṅga-sthala; it moralizes that mental craving (yācanā-vṛtti) is the true weight upon Bhū-devī.
Significance: Encourages vairāgya and inner purity—seen as the real pilgrimage (antar-yātrā) leading toward Śiva’s grace.
Role: teaching
The verse teaches that the real “burden” on the world is not physical nature but the unrestrained, craving-driven mind; in Shaiva terms, such desire strengthens pāśa (bondage) and multiplies karma, whereas restraint and devotion to Shiva lighten the soul and the world.
Linga-worship trains the mind away from restless begging for sense-objects and toward one-pointed reverence; by fixing manovṛtti on Saguna Shiva (the worshipful form), the devotee purifies desire and moves toward Shiva’s grace, which loosens bondage.
A practical takeaway is daily japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with disciplined restraint (niyama), offering cravings into Shiva through worship—optionally supported by vibhūti (tripuṇḍra) and rudrāksha as reminders of renunciation and steadiness.
