शुक्रनिग्रहः — The Seizure/Neutralization of Śukra (Kāvya) and the Daityas’ Despondency
सनत्कुमार उवाच । इत्येवमुक्तो देवेन शुक्रोर्कसदृशद्युतिः । प्रणनाम शिवं भूयस्तुष्टाव विहितांजलिः
sanatkumāra uvāca | ityevamukto devena śukrorkasadṛśadyutiḥ | praṇanāma śivaṃ bhūyastuṣṭāva vihitāṃjaliḥ
萨那特库玛罗说:蒙主如此告诫,光辉如日的舒克罗再度向湿婆顶礼,合掌恭敬而赞颂之。
Sanatkumara
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Type: stotra
Offering: pushpa
The verse highlights śaraṇāgati (surrender): even a powerful figure like Śukra responds to Śiva’s words with humility, namaskāra, and stuti—core Shaiva virtues that purify the soul and align it with Pati (Lord Śiva).
It models Saguna-upāsanā through visible acts of devotion—folded hands, bowing, and praising—attitudes equally directed to Śiva present as the Liṅga, where reverence (añjali) and prayer (stuti) become primary modes of approach.
Practice añjali and namaskāra before Śiva (or the Śiva-liṅga), followed by spoken or mental stuti; as a simple takeaway, begin japa with a reverential bow and a short praise before reciting “Om Namaḥ Śivāya.”
