It is a phalaśruti teaching that śravaṇa and pāṭha of the Purāṇic kathā are themselves acts of bhakti that purify the devotee and draw divine grace—here specifically the grace and auspicious guardianship of Gaṇapati.
In the Shiva Purana, devotion to Saguna forms is supported through kathā, nāma, and stotra; this verse affirms that faithful recitation of Shiva-centered narratives yields tangible well-being and also spiritual affiliation with Shiva’s divine family, especially Gaṇapati as remover of obstacles to worship.
Regular recitation (pāṭha) or arranging recitation (pāṭhana) of the chapter as a vrata—ideally preceded by simple purification and invocation—serves as a bhakti practice; it may be paired with Gaṇapati remembrance before Shiva worship to remove obstacles.
