त्रिपुरवर्णनम् (Tripura-varṇanam) — “Description of Tripura”
एवं लब्धवरास्ते तु दैतेयास्तारकात्मजाः । शैवं मयमुपाश्रित्य निवसंति स्म तत्र ह
evaṃ labdhavarāste tu daiteyāstārakātmajāḥ | śaivaṃ mayamupāśritya nivasaṃti sma tatra ha
如是,既得诸般恩赐,陀罗迦之子诸阿修罗(Daitya)便依止一座以湿婆之法、由幻力(māyā)所造的堡垒,确然居住其中。
Suta Goswami (narrating the Yuddhakhaṇḍa account to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
The verse contrasts worldly power gained by boons with true refuge in Śiva: the Daityas rely on a māyā-made, Śaiva-associated fortress, showing that external “Śaiva” power without devotion and right orientation remains bound to māyā, not liberation.
It implies that merely using what is “Śaiva” (names, powers, or constructs) is not the same as surrender to Saguna Śiva through Linga-worship; authentic Śiva-bhakti purifies and leads beyond māyā, whereas the Daityas use Śaiva means for egoic protection.
Take refuge in Śiva through daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and sincere Linga-pūjā with vibhūti (Tripuṇḍra) as a reminder to renounce māyā-based security and seek Śiva as the true shelter.
